Ruth Movement

Residing in Moab

Ruth opens in the days of the judges with famine in Bethlehem, migration into Moab, and the collapse of Naomi’s family through death. The movement establishes the dark historical setting, the irony of the house of bread lacking bread, and Naomi’s vulnerability as widow and mother bereaved of sons. Yet the final note that the Lord has visited his people with food begins the turn back toward covenant land and hidden providence.
