Entrance and Preparation for Conquest

Joshua opens with leadership transition and covenant preparation. The Lord commissions Joshua after Moses’ death, the people prepare to cross, Rahab confesses the God of Israel inside Jericho, the Jordan opens before the ark, memorial stones preserve the crossing, the nations tremble, the new generation receives the covenant sign, Passover is celebrated in the land, manna ceases, and Joshua encounters the commander of the Lord’s army before Jericho.
