The Broken Marriage as Covenant Sign
Hosea opens by turning the prophet’s marriage into covenant theater. Hosea’s household becomes a visible sign-act: Gomer embodies Israel’s unfaithfulness, the children’s names announce covenant verdicts, and the Lord exposes betrayal, misattributed provision, discipline, wilderness reorientation, tender pursuit, costly redemption, restraint, and future seeking of the Lord and the Davidic king.
