Ezekiel opens beside the Kebar River with the heavens opened, the mobile glory revealed, the priest-prophet overwhelmed, commissioned, made to eat the scroll, sent to a rebellious house, appointed as watchman, and restrained so that his speech will be governed by the Lord’s timing rather than human impulse.
